Better than Ever

Monday was Nathan's birthday.

He said he felt old. Quite the contrary, I feel he's getting younger.

He has started running. AND biking. He wakes up with the chickens and hits the pavement with his iPod strapped to his arm (running days) or wearing his new bike helmet.

(Mom's sweet feet)

My old mountain bike has become OUR old mountain bike. I am so proud of him. We are young at heart. I hope it is always so.

And I think we'll be seeing some of these signs in HIS future.

Happy birthday, Speed Racer. You're better than ever!

How are YOU staying young?

That Feeling

I am starting to feel all Valentines-ey. So, naturally, this super-fine photo of my honey makes me swoon . . . ahh.

Busy, busy working on Valentine's Day projects for another guest visit to KY3 this Saturday. Check my blog this weekend for some love-ly ideas. Isn't February fabulous?!

What is making your heart skip a beat this Love month?

Nathan and other BFFs

Two things:

1. Can he be more amazing? I ask Nathan to design me a new blog header. I tell him I'm thinking lollipop trees. He gives me lollipop, bubbly, wintry, berry, happy trees, with a Yeebird on top for good measure.

Uh huh. You know you're jealous.

2. Ladies: Fool-proof way to get your husband to buy you an iPod? Borrow his. Every. Single. Day. For two months. (not that I would do that, but I digress.)

Meet Frenchy, my Christmas present and new BFF, in all her hot-pink glory:

Music suggestions, please? High energy tunes are a must. Frenchy is hungry . . .

Twitter-Nate

Thought I'd share Nathan with you all today. I so love his tweets. Here's a glimpse of my funny-honey:

My tooth thanks you, God, for enamel. My coffee cup does not.
Hot coffee, photo treatments for a friend, Prospekt's March in the 'phones. I win.I'm soaked. But I have free Sbux.T-shirt at church: "Video games ruined my life. Good thing I have two extra lives.""Don't you PUT that evil on me, Ricky Bobby!!"Romo and Simpson split! WE'RE GOIN' TO THE SUPER BOWL, 'BOYS!!
Let's not call today "Monday." Let's call it "BlisteringAssaultofaDay."Big Web day ahead. Lots of video chats between here and Austin. Now, if only I could get my programmers out of bed...When used to designing on a Mac, a PC makes design feel like someone's stomping on the brakes every couple of minutes...Us: "Happy birthday to you, happy birthd--" // Lilly: "Doh-wannit!!"Boss just bought Andy's for everyone. I declined. I feel victorious. And terribly sad.HOLY COW. "Jaws" is playing all week at the Palace! I've NEVER seen this on the big screen. AWE. SOME. Bring on the shark!Sporting a brand new car today! And by "car" I mean "flip-flops."Hard morning's work. Home now with kiddos. Sprinkler is mos def part of the afternoon...come on home, sweetie!
Two things: 1) Ian jumped off the diving board for the first time; 2) I eliminated nigh unto thousands of Japanese Beetles. A good night.Monday happened, like, all over the place today.Yesterday, Ian learned to http://virb.com/nathanwilli...Most jarring phrase heard today: "...robotic gynecological surgery..."Tastes never to be combined: vinegar and coffee. Don't ask HOW I know; just accept THAT I know.:90 script clocks in at 3 min, 45 sec. Think anyone will notice?Rebekah rocks. Just try to keep up, ladies: http://yeebird.blogspot.com/Everything I say and do is being displayed on a huge monitor in a conference room...pretty sure I feel a booger.

Summer. Make it Last.

Pineapple Whip tonight. Summer goodness. Make it last.

And a mini-layout/whatever-ya-wanna-call-it I made for the Moxie It's All Green to Me challenge. Bonus: today I discovered it matches this color challenge, too. If you've never checked out kwernerdesigns, you're in for quite a treat! It's a pretty place.

So, there ya have it--two birds, one stone. Here it is:

The challenge was to use the green theme plus display typography in a unique way. I played in Photoshop today and figured out how to make my words look like an overlay. It's exciting to learn new ways to amp up my digital muscles.

Also fun? Taking care of Mother Earth. I get teased a lot by certain friends over my obsession with recycling (you know who you are, girls).

By the way, the top collage was done by Master Nathan. Looks like he was inspired by my Photoshop effects, eh?

Speaking of that top photo, maybe he was channeling his inner insect or bird instincts, but while we were enjoying our Pineapple Whip treats tonight, Nathan walked up to the window, thought it was open, reached in to get napkins, and -- ouch! Rammed his hand right into the closed window.

Red-faced, he returned to our table saying, "It's SO clean!!" Rest-assured, the teenage kid working at PW is still laughing . . .

Father's Day Series (2): Nathan

So the kids pretty much struck gold when they got you as a dad, sweets. You're the best human punching bag/jungle gym. EVER. And you're always bringin' the funny. Like tonight, after playing crazy with Ian all evening in his room, you come out, point to a big scratch on your forehead, and say, "Know what that is? That's what happens when a band of pirates led by Jabba the Hut attacks the Bat Cave."

Love that "day 1" daddy picture. We were clueless, weren't we? I remember you got a migraine or something that day at the hospital. I thought you were going to pass out or worse. Then, we brought Ian home and I think it took about 5 minutes before he started crying. Remember?

But it's been a great ride and still is. And I love how you and Ian wrestle like mad and you always get injured, but you can be so extremely gentle with him, too, and so loving with sweet Lilly. You're the whole package, Williams. Happy Dad's Day.

For the rest of you . . .
Here is the link to a fun, super cheap Father's Day gift you can make with your kids. Ian and I made three last year, one for Nathan and one for each grandpa.

Let your child do the painting. Some of the blocks may turn out like this, but that adds to the charm.
