Election Day in Yeetown

So close! I almost got this blog post up and running on election day. If you failed to make it to the polls yesterday to vote in government elections across this country, here is a chance to redeem yourselves. Well, almost and sort of. It IS a chance to vote, nonetheless, and for something infinitely cuter . . .

Lilly's big girl bedding. She is three now. Time for the baby crib to go. By the way, for a peek at Lilly's current room, click here.

Helpful info: Lilly's big girl bed is white wrought-iron, size full, and belonged to my great-grandparents.

Candidates include:

1. Leela from Pottery Barn Kids
Why I like it:
Includes blue, and Lilly's furniture is white with a blue wash over it. It is sweet and simple, and I could find a solid colored pink quilt pretty cheap elsewhere to go with. Also, the curtains in the picture are very similar to the curtains already in her room, so, you know, that goes.

And that whimsical bedskirt, well, it might involve selling a kidney, but I think it is a must-have. Money isn't growing on trees or anywhere else around here, besides, the garden is pretty much dead except for the tomatoes, but still.

2. Doll Dresses from Land of Nod
Why I like it:
The old-fashioned look goes with the iron bed, I think. Also, it's just very Lill. She spends all day dressing up and I think she would swoon over the teeny dresses.

3. Brooke from Pottery Barn Kids
Why I like it:
Fun, bright, incorporates blue, another must-have bed skirt, cheap knock-off owl pillows available at Target.
Why I do not like it:
A. Would I get tired of it? B. It is back-ordered until the end of September. Boo.

4. Bedding of Roses by Land of Nod
Why I like it:
Okay, now, seriously--doesn't this just scream little girl sweetness? The ruffles. To die for. It's also available in yellow (I like that better, actually), but if you know Lilly, it has to be PINK.

A close-up.

5. Kaleidoscope by Land of Nod
Why I like it:
Bright. Nathan thinks bright when he thinks of Lilly. (psst--he doesn't like my other choices!)

Any other ideas? Bright ideas, maybe?

Please take the time to vote today.

Disclaimer: I have yet to ask Lilly her opinion, and that MAY ultimately be the only vote that counts.

Thanks, faithful citizens of Yeebird! Smack! That's me placing a big "I Voted" sticker on your forehead.

  1. If BROOKE came in a queen, it would be on our bed. I've admired that set from afar for quite some time now. My vote is for BROOKE!

  2. I vote for Leela...it is so girly, and oh my, the bedskirt...I bet it could twirl beautifully...you know when the bed flies away to dreamland!

  3. Really, the bed skirt sealed the deal for Leela, but that same bed skirt would look good with the Bedding of Roses. My daughter got her bedding from Land of Nod. If you call customer service, you can request FREE samples. I'm very glad I did because the green I was going to go with was too lime. But, like your princess, only PINK would do in the end.

  4. Leela is my pick, because it has a bit of an old fashioned look from far away, but is a bit more modern up close. And it feels whimsical to me, with the addition of the bed skirt. Bonus: it would offset all the pink that will be going on around it! :)

  5. Ah! I LOVE the Brooke (the bedskirt is the best too!) and wanted it for Maya...now that she is 4, she wanted to pick, though, and went with Darcie. So - pick while you can!! :) I like it much more than I thought I would. But, thinking about Lilly's room, I have to say Leela! Very cute, sweet and feminine.

  6. I'm voting for option #1 Leela. And I think we can make that bed skirt. I can help you with that!

  7. I vote for #1 too! Simply adorable:-) keep us posted on what you choose.

  8. I love Leela the best. Brooke is cute, too, and matches the bird theme of your wonderful Yeebird blog. If Bruce never returns from Johannesburg, I'm ordering Leela for my bedroom!

  9. Hmmm...I'll be the oddball and vote for a combo...why not mix it up? Could you do bed of roses and the Leela bedskirt? It would be gorgeous. I don't like the matchy matchy that everyone else can buy...which is probably why my house is so weird. :) You could maybe even sneak a tiny dress sham or throw into the mix! :)

  10. when i first looked at the candidates, Leela was my favorite! super cute and love that bedskirt! however, when i took a gander at the pics you had linked of lilly's room, totally felt like the doll dresses quilt would look amazing in there! especially since you have the framed pics of old dress patterns. and the quilt theme goes along with the quilt hanging from the wall. so that's my vote!

  11. I cast my vote for #1 ... LOVE the bedskirt!! (but #2 is a CLOSE second b/c it would be fun and go well with the patterns you have hanging by the door, etc).

  12. I will be the odd man out.:)
I like Kaleidoscope for several reasons...the colors, the overlapping circles pattern...I think it is definitely something she can grow with and you could put any color sheets, bedskirt with it. It is a bit more artsy and I think lends itself to still using the vintage sewing lovlies you have on her walls. And you can still throw in those owl pillows you know I LOVE ;) I look at that cute, but seemingly expensive tulle bedskirt and think...one trip over it with a plastic dress up high high shoe, or toy tiara ...or dare I say Star Wars sword? and the pretty might be ripped. And that would be a tragedy! (I'm thinking practicality here I suppose!) I think you could make bed skirt NO PROB if you really want it!! I mean, if SHE really wants it ;)
Then again this is coming from a momma of 2 boys so really what do I know! We live in a house without a stitch of pink and no fru-fru! :D

  13. I really like Leela too - it is so sweet! I also like Brooke as well!

  14. I like all of them except Kaleidoscope (sorry Nathan). Love the bedskirt! Also, if I ever have children, will you please help me decorate?

  15. I like 2 & 5 and I agree with Lexi's comments on the durability of the adorable bedskirt.

  16. I agree with Julie J. I love bed skirt #1 with bed of roses. I LOVE the curtain in bed of roses and it will be something she won't outgrow quickly. They are all cute though! Have fun.

  17. I vote for #1 & #5 but ultimately Lilly's vote should win.

  18. My vote is for "Doll Dresses". It's got Lilly's name all over it!. Maybe you could have either the large pillow or the bed skirt in pink to have more of that color in the total look (since that's Lilly's favorite color). I'll be anxious to see which one she likes the best.

  19. Would you believe that we are about to order the Leela bedding from PBK for Sydney along with the bed frame and the sweet little pink bed side table and lamp!!!! And I am not crafty so you know I just try to copy the picture right out of the magazine:) So maybe Sydney and Lilly will have "matching" bedrooms! I will be looking to see which one she picks!! We are sold on the Leela bedding here at the Hortons! Happy room remodeling neighbors:)

  20. They are all adorable! I cast my vote for whatever Lilly chooses...after all, what do I know about girly stuff??? By the way, have you checked ebay? Sometimes you can find stuff a little cheaper or might be able to find the one that's back ordered.

  24. Brooke or doll dresses are soo Lill. Does she have to have only one?? :-)

  25. It's worth the extra $$ for kids bedding. The first set I bought Rebeakh fell apart after a couple of washings. \ Kids bedding needs a lot of washing, potty accidents and upset tummys! I bought PB for both girls, just the quilt and got everything else at Target/Walmart/Maxx. Although, those bedskirts are fabulous!

  26. You can buy any size pink tulle bedskirt at LinensnCurtains. Many sizes, options, colors available. you can also show your color and get it order.
